From today, 24th July 2020, the wearing of face masks is compulsory within retail premises in England.
This follows a previous decision by the Scottish government which ruled that face masks must be worn within stores.
It is paramount that all English and Scottish retailers follow the new laws; however, store owners must remain mindful that some people – such as those with certain health conditions, like asthma – are exempt from the rules.
The Federation of Independent Retailers (NFRN) represents 15,000 stores in the UK and Ireland. It is urging all members within Scotland and England to follow its guidance, which gives examples of best practice, exemptions and requirements.
