The Federation of Independent Retailers (NFRN) have welcomed the decision that all cover prices of The Sun and The Sun on Sunday will increase, effective from Saturday 1st August.
This is forecast to drive an extra £25m revenue through retailers tills and an additional £5.5m in margin over the next 12 months.
Mondays to Fridays will see a 5p increase, and weekends will see a 10p increase.
This also affects the Scottish editions of The Sun and The Sun on Sunday.
NFRN’s National President, Stuart Reddish commented:
“We are pleased that unlike other publishers of late that News UK is accompanying its price rises with pro rata terms.”
“Members will be relieved it recognises the extremely demanding trading environment that independent retailers are currently operating in, along with an understanding that margins must be maintained when cover prices rise. ”
