The NFRN Covid-19 Hardship Fund has been created to alleviate some of the financial pressures that independent retailers may be facing.
It offers financial assistance in the form of a grant to members suffering cash flow and other financial challenges through the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
In 1978, Carl Bridgewater, a 13 year old paperboy, was murdered while delivering newspapers for an NFRN member. The NFRN’s Carl Bridgewater Fund was set up in his name for the benefit of young people and news deliverers working for NFRN members.
For nearly 40 years, the fund has awarded grants to those suffering injuries, violent attacks, serious illnesses or stolen bicycles (Crime reference number required) but more recently grants of a more positive nature have also been available, awards have been made to news delivers who have shown acts of selfless bravery during their paper round.
Available for members who have fallen on hard times and require emergency support.
