The Metropolitan Police have set out to tackle cyber crime in London as businesses begin to use computers and the internet much more. Over the last couple of months, there has been an increase in businesses and organisations working remotely due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and unfortunately criminals have adapted their methods in order to take advantage of this!

Ransomware is a malicious software (malware) which will prevent you access to your computer and the data stored on it. Your computer could be locked or data could be stolen, deleted or encrypted. Often the criminal would then demand a payment in the form of cryptocurrency to unlock or return data.

On 8th June at 2pm the Metropolitan Police will be running a webinar to educate businesses on what ransomware is, how the police investigate it and how you can try and prevent it from happening to you. This will be one of a series of webinars focusing on Cyber Crime, being run by the National Policing Cyber Protect network and hosted by Cyber Griffin.
