We regret to announce the death of London district stalwart and a former NFRN Awards winner Pam Hoffman.
Pam, a member of the Federation since the early 1970s, died following a heart attack last Thursday (July 30).
For 40 years she was London district’s minute secretary – from 1974 through to July 2014 – and she had previously served as secretary for the London South and Woolwich branches.
In 2008 Pam was crowned the winner of the Special Services to the Industry Award at the NFRN Awards in recognition of the unstinting support she gave fellow newsagents in resolving commercial disputes. Her Small Claims Advisory Service arose after she became a delegate to the London District and spoke to the wives of other delegates who asked her how she dealt with bad debts. Pam initially started drafting letters for them and endeavoured to help them take their issues through the Small Claims County Court. Of the back of this the Small Claims Advisory Service was born.
In the 1980s Pam was awarded the London District Honorary Award and in February 2015 her name was added to the London District Roll of Honour.
Her husband Jim died in 2010. Our sympathies go to her family at this difficult time.
