Scottish Government regulations removing any requirement to obtain planning permission to install a reverse vending machine have come into effect.
Retailers who decide install a machine in their store will no longer need permission for a machine that does not exceed 3.5 metres in height and has a footprint of les than 80 square metres.
The Scottish Deposit Return Scheme comes into effect in July 2022.
