Representatives from the NFRN’s Grimsby branch recently presented the Grimsby Town Disabled Supporters Club with a cheque for £600.

Kevin Broughton, Neil Hurst and John Grice took to the Mariners’ home field on 29th February to present the club with their cheque.

The funds were provided by the NFRN’s voluntary fund, which is owned and managed by members.

The Grimsby Town Disabled Supporters club formed over 40 years ago and helps disabled supporters of Grimsby Town Football Club with financial aid, such as covering the travel costs of away games.

The cost of away travel is very expensive for Grimsby’s disabled supporters and it is stated on the Mariners Trust’s website that the club is in “desperate need of financial help to pay for coach travel”.

NFRN’s Branch President of Grimsby and Scunthorpe, John Grice, said: “We decided to donate to the Grimsby Town Disabled Supporters club because they are very hard up for money.

“Going to games means so much to the members and it’s often one of the only times that the supporters are able to get out and socialise.”

The Grimsby Town Disabled Supporters club runs a special coach to take members to away games.

John Grice continued: “It’s often hard for supporters with disabilities to be able to get both to and from away games. The coach makes it all a lot easier for them.

“The club was really grateful for our help. They are so far back with funding that it means a lot to them.

“How the club spends the money is completely down to them. We hope that it helps them with whatever they need and gets members to as many games as possible.”
