Extreme Weather Warning – Storm Babet

The Met Office has issued a red weather warning for parts of Scotland as Storm Babet will bring rain disruption for parts of the UK on Thursday and Friday. The rare red weather warning for rain has been added to existing amber and yellow rain warnings, with northern and eastern UK set to see heavy rainfall and potential flooding.

As a result, there may be disruption to the safe and timely distribution of newspapers and magazines into Menzies & Smiths depots from newspaper print sites, and onto retail stores on Friday morning.

The Wholesale Distribution teams will be closely monitoring the situation throughout the night and all final decisions on local distribution will rest with the individual branch management teams, with the safety of staff being the primary concern. The Customer Service Centres will be able to provide latest updates on distribution from 6.00am where required.
