On February 22, 2022, a group of Federation retailers managed to raise £1,300 at a race night in Chepstow, in aid of the industry charity NewstrAid.

Around 70 members were in attendance at the event that was organised by then district president Donna Dudden of the Wales district with help from Kirsten Boucher, national events manager for the Fed.

On the same night, Donna handed over the reins of the Wales district presidency to Vince Malone.

The event was not only open to members in the Wales district, but any Federation member who was willing to make the journey. In a show of true community spirit and commitment to the Fed, a group of retailers from the North West district travelled four hours by coach to show their support for the event. In total, retailers from four different districts attended the event on a Tuesday evening including members from the West Midlands and South West districts.

Multiple suppliers were also present at the event, including representatives from Pernod Ricard, Swizzles, Bobby’s Foods, Grenade, Mondelez, Spar, Fifo, JTI and Barclaycard.

On the success of the event, Donna said: “The amount we raised is phenomenal. For me, being a part of the Federation is about connecting with people from all over, not just the people in my district, which is why I was adamant to invite everyone. It was wonderful that people travelled to the event to help raise money for an amazing cause.”
