Could you be a Community Champion?

The NFRN has teamed up with Reach to reward those members who go that extra mile for their customers and their communities.

Together with Reach, formerly known as Trinity Mirror, we are pleased to unveil the Community Champion of the Month awards, through which we seek to reward those retailers who go that extra mile for their customers and communities. That’s an ethos the NFRN and Reach both support.

The awards are exclusive to NFRN members and each month trophies will be awarded to retailers in five regions – Scotland and Northern Ireland; the North; Wales; the Midlands; and the South. The overall Community Champion of the Year will be revealed at the 2021 NFRN Awards.

You can nominate yourself or a deserving colleague using the online form below. Meanwhile, advertisements and articles in Reach’s network of regional titles will promote the awards and readers will be invited to put forward the local retailers they believe are so special to their community.

To help drive nominations, posters and flyers are being produced for members to display in their stores and to hand out to customers. These are being distributed by Reach merchandisers, can be requested from NFRN Connect on 0800 121 6376 or can be downloaded below.

NFRN Past President Linda Sood said: “We are looking for members who care about where they live and work and who work tirelessly – and often quietly – in their community, but whose initiatives and fund raising activities have made a real and positive difference to their local environment.

“We know there are hundreds of great retailers out there who are truly committed and enthusiastic about making their communities better places to live. We want to salute and reward them.”

Andrew Crosthwaite of Reach added: “Through these new Community Champion awards we want to highlight and recognise that community values and hard work the local retailers do and we are very honoured to help sponsor these awards and work closely in partnership with the NFRN. Many newsagents go above and beyond in their communities and we should recognise this by rewarding them.”
