The Great British Spring Clean had to be postponed this year because of the coronavirus outbreak, and the rescheduled event is now nearly upon us.

Retailers can encourage their communities to get involved in local litter-picks between 11th and 27th September, as part of Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British September Clean.

Litter-picking is arguably more important than ever right now, with fears of a littering epidemic as normal life continues to slowly resume.

And as well as having positive outcomes for the environment, the initiative plays an important part in bringing people together and boosting community spirit. That’s why Coca-Cola is proud to be a supporting partner once again.

While large community clean ups are not encouraged at this time, there are ways in which our retailer partners can raise awareness and mobilise their shoppers to get involved in a socially-distanced way. Litter-picks can be just as effective alone or in pairs and for those taking part in groups, this should involve a maximum of six people if from different households.

Retailers can download a Great British September Clean poster available from the Coca-Cola European Partners Customer Hub website to put up in their store, or can point shoppers to the Keep Britain Tidy website for more information and tips for safe and responsible clean-ups.

Thanks to all retailers who continue to go above and beyond in your communities, you really are local heroes!
