The Great British Spring Clean: Caring for your community
Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) is proud to be a supporting partner of Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean 2020 (20th March – 13th April), and is inviting NFRN members to support the initiative by hosting community clean-ups.
Last year, more than half a million people took part in the Great British Spring Clean, cleaning up 4,308 tonnes of litter across the country [1]. CCEP hosted 28 clean-ups with more than 300 colleagues and enabled around 2,100 litter picking hours with free litter picking kits which were sent to trade customers.
Nick Brown, Head of Sustainability at CCEP said: “We’ve seen what a great impact the Great British Spring Clean can have in communities across the country and we want to help make it bigger and better this year. We want to raise awareness and help more independent retailers across the country to get behind the campaign. As hubs of your communities, with strong relationships with local residents, you are ideally placed to bring people together, helping to boost local pride and community spirit.”
Free Community Clean-Up Kits
Retailers interested in hosting a community clean-up can visit the sustainability section of CCEP’s trade website www.cokecustomerhub.co.uk/sustainability to download a free ‘Guide to Hosting a Community Clean-Up’, as well as an editable poster to display in-store to raise awareness of an organised litter pick event.
There is also a quick link to the Great British Spring Clean website for retailers to register their event.
Once you have registered on the Great British Spring Clean website, the first 50 NFRN retailers to add a ‘Clean Up’ whilst clicking on the correct CCEP/NFRN partner drop down will receive a free CCEP ‘clean-up kit’, which includes litter pickers, gloves and high-vis jackets – so it’s important to get in early!
Chance to win £1,000 for a local charity or good cause of your choice
Nick Brown continued; “For NFRN members who host a community clean-up and tell us about it post event we’ll put your name into a free prize draw for a chance to win £1,000 for a local charity or good cause of your choice. More information on this in due course.”
