Four Scottish NFRN members were named as winners at the 2021 Scottish Grocer Awards last year.

The team at KeyStore More Forres Drive, which includes NFRN member Surinder Singh, took home the Licensed Retailer of the Year award. Judges were impressed at the layout and how the team use a mix of pro-active trend spotting and responding to customer requests to carefully curate their alcohol range.

Steven Oiyla of Barry’s in Clarkston was awarded the Innovation in Impulse award for keeping up to date on all the latest trends and utilising the store layout to attract customers to impulse purchases.

Jawad Javed and the team at Day-Today Stenhousemuir took home the Community Retailer of the Year award. Throughout the pandemic, they have supported local vulnerable families and frontline workers. The store also donated 1,000 bottles of hand sanitiser to the local hospital.

Finally, one of the biggest awards of the night went to Ian Mitchell and the team at Premier Girvan. They were awarded the Independent Retailer of the Year award for their amazing growth despite the pandemic, the introduction of a new homemade food to go range and investing in their online social platforms to expand their reach.

The awards were held on Wednesday, November 17 at the Hilton Glasgow, and hosted by BAFTA award-winning actor Rory Bremner.

Congratulations to all of the NFRN members who were nominated and won awards.
