A wealth of NFRN members took home trophies at the Scottish Local Retailer awards on Wednesday, November 27. Jawad and Asiyeh Javed, Saleem Sadiq, Ian Smith, and Umyr Asif, were each announced as winners on Wednesday, with a few taking home more than one award.
NFRN Scottish president, Ferhan Ashiq paid tribute to the Federation winners, saying: “Independent stores are the backbone of our communities, and the NFRN members who were recognised at the SLR awards are shining examples of the fantastic work that is done by retailers every day.
“Congratulations to all the winners – you are a credit to yourselves, your communities and our industry.”
The NFRN members who took home SLR awards are:
Jawad and Asiyeh Javed, of Day Today, Stenhousemuir who took home the Community Retailer of the Year and Confectionery Retailer of the Year award.
Saleem Sadiq, owner of Spar Renfrew who was named Soft Drinks Retailer of the Year and his staff were awarded Team of the Year.
Ian Smith, of Premier Turriff, in Aberdeenshire won Newstrade Retailer of the Year for the third year in a row.
Dundee retailer Umayr Asif of Premier News Food and Wine Nethergate was named Home Delivery Retailer of the Year.
