Stuart Hale – Chief Operating Officer
Stuart officially took up his post on Monday, February 21, bringing with him a wealth of experience in senior management roles in retail and manufacturing. This includes 18 years with electrical retailer Dixon’s, working his way up to programme manager in HR.
Stuart has also worked for Porsche, as head of business, and Jaguar Land Rover, where he was global development manager, spending some time working overseas. His most recent role was as a strategy director for Hero Wellbeing Solutions.
Retail is in his blood. He started stacking shelves aged 16 at the Co-op in Headingley, and also worked in shoe and clothes shops.
Phil Jaggard – Head of Operations
Phil has gained vast experience in retail roles for over 35 years, ranging from sales assistant, store manager and Regional Manager roles, working with smaller Independent retail chains, running his own retail business and with multiple experience gained with One Stop and Nisa Retail where for 16 years he worked with Independent Retailers.
With extensive Retail and Field sales experience, Phil brings a wealth of knowledge with him to the Fed. Joining in 2021 Phil has responsibility for leading the Field Operations team as part of the Senior Leadership team and has shaped the Membership Development Executive role and has seen them achieve a record-breaking year of success in membership growth.
Nat O’Brien – Head of Technology
After providing technical consultancy and systems engineering services to the Fed since 2012, in July 2019 the organisation invited Nat to join the senior management team as Head of Technology. Nat is responsible for the innovation, development, maintenance and security of the Federation’s technical infrastructure.
Nat has over 24 years of technical engineering, process and project management experience, gained whilst working in the telecom, venture capital, finance, construction, healthcare, legal, internet infrastructure, technical solutions and digital entertainment sectors.
Brian Murphy – Head of News and Contact Centre
With significant news and field based experience gained from working in multiple retail groups and in wholesaling, Brian joined the Federation in 2005. He is responsible for overseeing the Field & News Operations and is also tasked with identifying business opportunities for members to earn extra profit on the news category, largely through the Newspro and Store2Door bespoke membership programmes.
Adrian Roper – Head of Political Engagement
After a career in investment banking in the City of London and heading up a successful election campaign at the 2010 general election, Adrian worked in Westminster for two of the 2010 intake of MPs. From there he moved to run a Police and Crime Commissioner campaign.
Adrian joined the Federation in December 2012 and is focused on campaigning on issues that impact the 15,000 members across the UK and Ireland. Adrian has an MA in International Relations from the University of Kent.
Anne Bingham – Head of Communications
Having championed the cause of independent retailers for more than 11 years as editor of the former retail trade magazine CTN, Anne spent seven years working as the Communications Manager for the Association of Newspaper and Magazine Wholesalers and a year as a PR manager for Durex before joining the Federation in 2007.
As Head of Communications, Anne is focused on providing internal and external communications, along with managing the Fed magazine and PR for the Federation.
Natalie Nichol – Head of Marketing
Natalie joined The Fed in July 2021 with over 17 years of management and over 21 years of marketing experience. Natalie has worked in sectors such as travel, wholesale, fashion and retail. Natalie has worked in all fields of marketing including technical, advertising, digital, content and social, print, ecommerce, PR and events, in both B2B and B2C roles, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to The Fed.
As head of marketing, Natalie is repsonsible for the plans and strategies, marketing functions, design, new website builds and social and broadcasting.
