The Fed is working with Scottish members and Police Scotland’s Retail Crime Taskforce to encourage them to report shoplifting, as well as other forms of retail crime, including harassment.
This follows our recent meeting with DCI Jordan Low where we spoke about the unique pressures our members face in Scotland: https://thefedonline.com/news/retail-crime-taskforce-meeting/
They have recently highlighted that there are a range of ways of reporting retail crime, including:
- Police Scotland Direct Reporting of Retail Crime tool: for non-urgent theft incidents: https://www.scotland.police.uk/secureforms/retailcrime/
- More information: is available on the Police Scotland website, here: https://www.scotland.police.uk/contact-us/report-shoplifting/
- Calling 999: for an urgent criminal incident of any kind, including when someone is in danger and it is currently happening.
- Dialling 101: retail incidents involving harassment.
Police Scotland have also said they are working on developing new retail crime reporting tools involving a third-party provider and will share more information about this next year.
The Retail Crime Taskforce is also a body the Fed lobbied the Scottish government to establish and to continue providing funding for and The Fed will continue to work with it. We have also invited them to attend our upcoming Scottish Trade show in Edinburgh on Tuesday 10ठ November – so we hope members will have a chance to speak with them then.
